The first rule in planning to construct a shed is to determine what the shed’s purpose will be, whether it be an outback yoga studio, or a place for tools and equipment. Without proper understanding of what specifically will be going into your shed, you may end up with a jumbled mess of stuff dumped into your shed without any purpose and you won’t be able to find anything. Now for assessing the size of the shed; a lot will go into this decision process. Now that we have determined the appropriate size and location for your shed, it is now time to decide which materials you will be using to put it together. There are many materials to choose from such as wood, siding, shingles, clapboards, and plywood. Each of these options will give your shed a distinctive look so keep in mind that deciding the style may come into play when selecting the materials.
Once you have decided on all the above components it is now time to start the official building process. I know it is quite tempting to skip the above steps and commence hammering away without really giving adequate time to pre-planning, but these are very important steps that cannot be substituted. Better to take the time now and get these details hammered out than to halt production for lack of planning, or worse having to start all over again.
At this stage of production you have two options, you can either draw up the building plans yourself, or you can purchase ready made plans. I recommend getting ready made plans because you know they have been researched and scaled out so all you have to do is get the plans and get moving. It is a good idea to go with a resource that will offer you many plans so you have options to choose between the different styles of sheds that will best suite your landscape.
